What we look for
Applying to us
We are looking for Trainees with entrepreneurial spirit and commercial acumen, who are hungry for success and have an innovative approach to solving problems.
It goes without saying that you should enjoy a challenge, have an enthusiasm for the law and demonstrate a genuine commitment to working in an international environment.
Each year we recruit approximately 50% law and 50% non-law students. We recruit penultimate year law students (and beyond) and final year non-law students (and beyond).
Recent Trainees have studied subjects as diverse as music and engineering or, following graduation, have worked in areas as varied as the Lloyd’s market, retail, music and banking. We welcome people who are becoming lawyers as a second career.
Throughout our recruitment process we assess candidates on a "CV blind" basis. This is to help us to ensure that individuals are selected on merit alone, and details such as the name of the school/university that you attended do not form part of our selection criteria. With this, we aim to remove unconscious bias from our selection process.
Our recruitment process
We are proud to be using the Rare Contextual Recruitment System. This means we will better understand your achievements, particularly if you narrowly fall short of our stated criteria. We also work with a number of organisations who share our passion for diversity, including Aspiring Solicitors.
Our recruitment process consists of an online application, an assessment centre, the vacation scheme (if applied for) and a final round Partner interview.
There is no typical Trainee. We are committed to recruiting Trainees from a wider range of backgrounds with differing perspectives and experiences, to reflect the diversity of our clients. Where our Trainees are alike is that they are all hard working, ambitious and globally minded.
We look for 340 UCAS points and a 2.1 degree obtained or predicted. We do consider mitigating circumstances.
