A Global career

Mark Devlin

I am nearing the end of my second seat in the Perth office. The Perth office is substantially smaller than the London office, with less than 20 people. This makes for a very friendly and collegiate atmosphere whilst also meaning that I have got to know my colleagues very well over the course of my six months here. Despite being a small office, I have undertaken a wide range of work across many practice areas. The variety of work has been great as it has allowed me to experience firsthand how clients operate across many different sectors and jurisdictions. The cases I have been involved in include complex construction disputes and a high profile personal injury claim. I have also had exposure to competition, regulatory and shipping work whilst I have been here. Overall, this makes for a varied and interesting seat in which I feel I have broadened my knowledge, experience and skills.

Aside from work, Perth is a great city to live in. The city itself is quite compact and full of nice restaurants and bars. It is very easy to get around and no there is no shortage of things to do, whatever you are into. Being quite into sport, I have been involved with a football team and snooker club which have both been really good fun. Just out from the city you will find picturesque beaches, the Swan Valley and the seaside town of Fremantle which are all worth a visit. All in all, I have really enjoyed my time in Perth and am grateful to have had the opportunity to work in such an interesting city.
